Hail to thee, blithe Spirit!

Sunny spells, 10º, light SW.
Lollingdon was much as yesterday with the exception of - no sign of the Stonechat which had presumably moved off and the addition of 2 Raven that flew over calling, heading north and a few more Skylark in song (always good to hear).

A walk out to the Lees after was relatively quiet with several Skylark in evidence and in song, a small flock of 12 Lapwing and a Peregrine sat on one of the pylons.
A small flock (c100) of Fieldfare, Redwing and Starling in the hedgerows between the Bullshole and Manor Farm.
A Red Kite chased a Carrion Crow through the garden this morning and both disappeared off towards the village.

Skylarks

(The blog post title is the first line of a poem by Shelley "Ode to a Skylark").

  1. I've yet to see a skylark this year (not a common bird on my patch) but I love the way in the first picture the bird stands out so well against the dark soil. (sorry appear to be spamming your blog today, really enjoying looking through it, and only came across it today, although will be checking back regularly).
