Wheatears

Sunny spells and showers, fresh south-south westerly, 10º, pretty chilly in the wind.

Appears we have had an influx of Wheatears in the county in the last few days. A late afternoon visit to the hill found 2 Wheatear present, 1 on the south face with the sheep and the other along the track that leads off the hill and the first Lamb of the year there.

Did not stay long on the south side as the wind was somewhat chilly so we walked around to the lea side for some shelter.

No Gulls present in the area as the floods have all but dried up now, just a few transient Lesser Blackbacks overhead.

A Chiffchaff still around and a Song Thrush on the north side, the Fieldfare and Redwing flock still present, 2 Mistle Thrush in song, a Green Woodpecker heard, 2 Corn Bunting, 2 Yellowhammer present and a flyover Reed Bunting noted and 2 Redwing in the hedge to the east.

2 Buzzard and 5 Red Kite taking advantage of the up draughts over the hill.

No Toads found today!

A Chiffchaff singing early morning in the garden, also a Green Woodpecker nearby, a Sparrowhawk overhead later in the day and the Grey Wagtails around still.
