Fieldfare & Redstart

Another sunny day, 14°, light WNW.

“A quick visit (en route to work) to a beautiful but still marsh this morning. I didn’t see much but there was a Fieldfare on the approach road, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Water Rail calling, and a Reed Bunting”. Per Michael Pocock.

“A Willow Warbler singing at Church Rd Bridge this morning”. Per Richard Broughton.

“At mid-day we had a male Common Redstart seen briefly on our boundary fence with East End Farm, our second ever record for the site. Willow Warbler still here”. Per Tony Rayner.

A Willow Warbler singing in the garden at 07:00 this morning, possibly the same one Richard heard. And a Chiffchaff, 2 Nuthatch and a singing Blackcap in the garden this afternoon and a Sparrowhawk flew through.

A male and female Peregrine Falcon mobbing a Red Kite halfway out to Lollingdon.

c20 Chiffchaff seen/heard today along with several Blackcap. 2 Raven seen soaring with a Buzzard over the hill and eventually drifted off south.

Several Meadow Pipit moving through and 4 singing Corn Bunting on the hill and 2 Goldcrest nearby.

A Little Owl seen briefly.

Butterflies: Brimstone, Small WhiteGreen-veined White, Orange Tip, Red Admiral, Painted Lady (1st of the year), Small Tortoiseshell, Peacock, Comma and Speckled Wood.

A few more Bee-Fly seen today and several species of Hoverfly.
